If you mean a holiday as in get out of work and school because of it, no it shouldn't. It's a holiday sure, but it's not really celebrating much, just a time when kids go trick or treating at night, who cares.

So did Christmas. Most theologians and historians think Christ was actually born closer to March.

Christ was born on the 27th of July. 25th of December is his commercial birthday.. the Queen of England has one too.. I think.
Anyway, THAT part of christmas may be hundred of years old, but Father Christmas, Elves, Reindeer, Lapland, presents blah blah are only a couple of hundred years old.

Edit: I have to think of a present now, choosing is the hardest part of present buying/making.
Edit: no present since you're not a girl

If we were in Latin America, we'd probly get Dia de los Muertos off. haloween in other words (but more chirstian, and a ton more formal).
I think we should get the day after haloween free...cause I know I'm not up to my best the day after >_> Actually, I'll be writing a thesis paper this haloween o.O

Actually Halloween is the day before the catholic holiday all Saints Day,
Halloween is sort of a preparation for all saints day.
Halloween is sort of a night holiday, like Christmas Eve.

I don't think a one of you has any idea what the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO you're talking about. Who really cares, though? It's the day when kids go out a night with their mortal kombat costumes and get candy from everyone except sex offenders in New Jersey.
What more needs to be said?

There is, indeed, more that needs to be said:
Stay away from the sex offenders in New Jersey.
That is all.

Its all relative based on your beliefs. A better question would be what percentage of the population of the world recognizes holloween as a holiday?

Very true. Casually dismissing something that has been around, (in various contexts) for centuries simply because one doesn't agree/understand it is terribly unwise.
That said, I'd take a totally uneducated guess at <30%. I'm>

I fail to see the merit in this...
If you got Halloween off, and the next day were still a school day... Then nothing will have changed. You'd still have the problem of staying out late on a school night, because it's the NEXT day that matters on that count.
